In February 2009 world renowned travel photographer Richard I’Anson from Lonely Planet Images together with Australia’s 2008 Landscape Photographer of the Year and passionate traveller, Nick Melidonis, presented a seminar on their journeys and approach to capturing stunning travel, people and landscape images.
The seminar included:
- Preparation for travel and how to choose appropriate equipment
- Pro shooting secrets in the field – what works and what doesn’t when shooting landscapes, people and special assignments.
- Favourite destinations and special moments – photos that stir the soul
- Richard I’Anson’s journey and tips for stock photography and publishing
The seminar was lavishly illustrated with stunning photographs from two of Australia’s top travel photography masters.

Richard I’Anson
Richard I’Anson has travelled the world over the past 27 years amassing a substantial and compelling collection of images of people and places in more than 70 countries on all seven continents, and built a career based on his twin passions for travel and photography. His work is published worldwide in books, magazines, newspapers, brochures, calendars, posters, cards and websites. He has published seven books including the best selling Travel Photography: A Guide to Taking Better Pictures (Lonely Planet) and the large format pictorials Australia: 42 great landscape experiences and Nepal. When he’s not on the road Richard works from his home in Melbourne, Australia.

Nick Melidonis
Nick has travelled extensively in pursuit of emotive images from some of the world’s most scenic and wild locations and is regarded as one of Australia’s foremost landscape and travel photographers and photo educators. His awards include the AIPP ‘Australian Professional Landscape Photographer of the Year’ in 2000, 2001 and again in 2008. Nick achieved a triple Master of Photography from the AIPP in 2007. Nick writes regularly for many photography and lifestyle magazines and his first major photographic book, ‘Aegean Light – the Spirit of Olympia’ was released in Australia and Greece in May 2004 and given as a gift by the Consulate of Greece to the WA Olympic athletes.
