Light Fantastic 2011

Inspiration, Innovation, Information

5th and 6th February 2011

Notre Dame University, new lecture theatre ND4

Corner Croke and Cliff Streets, Fremantle WA

Dale Neill and Nick Melidonis, in collaboration with UWA Extension, the City of Fremantle, Team Digital, Camera Electronics, Fitzgerald Labs and WA Camera Clubs again present a fascinating line-up of photographic talent for Light Fantastic 2011.

One of the world’s leading photojournalists from Hong Kong, Michael Coyne, will be Light Fantastic 2011’s keynote speaker. Michael has authored more than twenty books, shot for National Geographic, is an accomplished commercial photographer, respected nationally and internationally for his stunning narrative images.

So you want to set up your own home studio? Vic Natoli, one of Australia’s leading studio operators will provide you with valuable tips to get you started.

By popular demand, Tony Hopkins returns with his powerful macro and abstract images, sharing his techniques for capturing the decisive moment. Wildlife shooter, Denis Glennon provides useful tips on capturing those elusive wildlife moments.

Photo historian, John Dowson is a disciple of Western Australia’s early photographers. These photographers worked with primitive equipment but have left a visual legacy for which we should be grateful.

Denis Glennon gives you more tips about getting that memorable wildlife image.

Roger Garwood is a straight-talking, straight–shooting black and white photographic master. Roger will enthral you with stories behind the signature images from his many books.

If there’s a new idea around, intrepid traveller and photographer Clive Addison embraces it. Let Clive show you how his iPad enables him to share photographs with the speed of light! Fantastic!

Three of Western Australia’s leading camera-club photographers  reveal their inspirational styles to inspire the audience with their unique techniques.

Nick Melidonis shares his amazing journey through iconic Cambodia. He reveals his techniques for capturing the charismatic monks and the stunning temples of Ankor. In a second session titled ‘in-focus’ Nick will demonstrate some of his favourite hardware and software including the new Gigapan.

Dale Neill will illustrate how signature styles evolve from the way photographers see the world around them.  Dale will also demonstrate how very simple changes to camera settings can produce some incredibly creative flash photographs.

Our top speakers and special guests will challenge and inspire you and make Light Fantastic THE photographic event of the year.

Bookings are available NOW through UWA Extension , Ph: 6488 2433. Attendance is $295 for the two days.
