It’s about time we take photography seriously, and treat it as a hobby.

In this section, I will be sharing events and happenings, as well as new galleries of commissioned and personal work.
- Light Fantastic 2010 in Feb 6th and 7th has been voted by many of the 160 people who attended as the best yet. This event is now the largest annual photo enthusiast event in WA and the calibre of the speakers ensured its success. I would like to thank the key note speaker,, Nick Rains from Qld, David Bettini, Nigel Gaunt and Frank Richardson, wildlife photographer Denis Glennon and my old friend and colleague,Dale Neill . We also thank our supporters, the WA Camera Clubs, Team Digital, Camera Electronic, The City of Fremantle . An event program is available here. An example of the feedback we received :
“I feel compelled to send my heartfelt thanks to both Dale and yourself, and your wonderful team of helpers for putting together a fabulous weekend at the Light Fantastic. This was my second year in attendance and once again you managed to far exceed my hopes and expectations. (This is a big compliment, as this year I had very high expectations based on my experience last year) The diversity of topics, perspective and approach amongst the presenters was brilliant, and the standard of work breathtaking. I left literally feeling like I had been in another world… Such a rewarding experience to be able to close the doors on all the day to day clutter of life, and just immerse myself in a creative world with like minded individuals.)
I am bursting with inspiration; and armed with my new ideas, knowledge, perspective and tips I am looking forward to picking up my camera later today and getting out there
With Thanks,
Gerrie
- Photo Inspirations with Nick Rains and myself following Light Fantastic on the Monday was also a huge success with 80 participants crowding the Santa Naria lecture theatre at Notre Dame University. My thanks to Nick Rains and Denis Glennon for making this Iconic Images event the first of many Iconic events.
- My two new workshops on Photoshop have been very popular with most workshops booked out in 2009. Photoshop Inspirations Revealed is a one day workshop for beginners or as a refresher, while Creative Photoshop Fine Art Techniques is a two day hands-on workshop revealing the techniques behind many of my award winning images. The Photoshop courses will be be complimented in 2010 by a new ‘Lightroom Revealed‘ workshop with a comprehensive outline of how to get the best out of this powerful program. For people who prefer to keep things simple, a new course ’Mastering Photoshop Elements‘ will also be offered early next year. Book early for these workshops . Please watch the Courses and Calendar pages for updates on these.
